The IRC chat is not working for us, not sure what’s up, but we’ll check it. Scoble is on now.

How is it going?
Wish I could have been there for Scobleizer Live!

It was great. The event is rocking. On IRC, I think it’s probably a port on the router or something.

Incidentally, there’s a Wiki-type thingy about BBS:

And I pulled the IRC chat from the sidebar.

Incidentally, I’m blogging the conference too, so feel free to add me to the sidebar.

If anyone stuck at the conference wants to join the IRC channels you can use a different port.
IRC normally uses port 6667. Tell your IRC client program to use port 8001 instead. This port DOES get out of the router here at the conference.
Thanks go out to Rob Levin for helping make this possible.
So, use your client software on port 8001 and the hostname ‘irc.freenode.net’ Once you’re connected come join us on the #bbs05 and #joiito channels. Use the command “/join #bbs05″ once you’re connected.
Thanks,
-Bill Kearney

Thanks for the update on IRC. I have to admit I’m an IRC caveman. Is the chat going on? Lively?
Cameron 01.24.05 at 4:08 pm
I’m still getting a “invite only” rejection when I try to join the #bbs05 channel. I was on it fine earlier today though.
Nicole Simon 01.24.05 at 4:24 pm
No audiofeed, not even an open irc - we do have 2005, right?
Bill Kearney 01.24.05 at 4:41 pm
For anyone needing to get into the channel ask for an invite on the #joiito channel. Sorry to do this folks but we’ve seen a BOATLOAD of really, really disgusting spam and flooding to the channel. Being short on time to really get everything better configured isn’t practical. Thus invites.

The bbs05 wiki - there’s a typo above. Also, #joiito doesn’t appreciate queries for invites very well.

On audio, we chose to podcast interviews, but we hear you and we’ll address it at the next event.

Susannah,
Added you to the blogging list.

DL Byron,
First, you have to make sure an irc client is installed on your system. If you do not have one you should ask your local system admin to install a client on your PC or local area network. If you have a stand-alone PC with internet acces you have to obtain and install a client yourself. (dont worry ..its easy!)
Popular IRC clients (in no particular order) : mIRC, Virc and Pirch.
