Don’t get us wrong. We’re big fans of getting businesses blogging - so we were really happy when we heard that Starwood Hotels had started their blog entitled The Lobby. Good for Starwood for sticking their neck out there. Now here comes the criticism.
As my friend and boss Steve Broback likes to say, “putting a logo in a blog post is like handing out business cards at a wedding - inappropriate.” If you’re going to plug your product on your blog, plug it while acknowledging that you’re plugging it. Don’t include logos and try to brand the thing.
