If there’s one thing we can be accused of here at the Blog Business Summit, it’s that we’re crazy about blogs. But blog and blog marketing alone do not determine the success or failure of a product. After all, not everyone reads blogs on a regular basis. And while a growing number of people rely on search engines to get information, many people do not spend a great deal of time on the Web.
That’s why reaching out to offline constituencies the same way you’d reach out to online ones is so important. The approach is the same. You want to ask for people’s opinion about the product rather than giving them a sales pitch about why it’s so great. You want to involve groups that have been historically negative about your product–like moms and video games–and emphasize honesty over sales language.
This strategy is part of the reason the Nintendo Wii has been such a great seller. The organization has reached out to moms and families as well as the traditional video game demographic. The result is that they’re seen as combating the sometimes unhealthy video game culture, bringing families together, promoting exercise, all while expanding their market.

Very wise advice. By interacting with people via blogs, we should be gaining more boldness, compassion, and understanding.

Your comments on word of mouth marketing are mostly accurate and I do agree with you, but in my opinion you have left out some important aspects on the strategy. The best source of information that I have have found, on the subject of word of mouth marketing, is an article that was writen by someone named Jason Ryan Isaksen and it has proven to be a very usefull resource to myself and others who are useing this type of strategy. If it would be permited, I would like to provide your readers with a copy of his article on your site, I have a copy of it and I would like to hear of any personal experiences or opinions on Jason Ryan Isaksen or any of reasonings and strategies. Has anyone ever heard Jason Ryan Isaksen or read any of his articles? Or if there is anyone who is familiar at all with his services, I would be very glad to hear of your opinion on them. I have read many reviews on Jason Isaksen on several other sites and it seems to me that this guy is very knowledgable in the area word of mouth marketing and when it comes to internet marketing in general he is influencing the way people people go about their online business, in a good way. Any valid opinions on Jason Isaksens strategies or the articles he has published on internet marketing and word of mouth would be most appreciated.
